UPDATE: One dead after crash, highway closed through Burlington

A motorcyclist is dead following a morning crash on a highway through Burlington.

The OPP confirmed that the driver was killed following a collision on Hwy. 403 just before 10 a.m. today (Sept. 16) on a stretch of road that runs between Hamilton and Burlington.

No cause of the accident was given and it is not known how many other vehicles were involved.

As police continue their investigation eastbound lanes on the highway are now closed east of Waterdown Road.

Traffic is being diverted around the accident scene.

OPP say traffic through the area is expected to be delayed for several hours as they begin their investigation.
