Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 15) warning of a significant rainfall expected to fall into this evening in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.

A total of 20 to 40 mm of rain is likely this evening, with a possibility that it could reach as high as 50 mm.

“Periods of rain, which may be heavy at times, are expected to continue this evening along with a risk of thunderstorms,” said Environment Canada in a weather statement. “Local rainfall totals up to 50 mm are possible by the time the heavy rain weakens tonight.”

Residents are reminded to check with their local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office concerning any possible flooding.
