A heat warning is still in effect for Halton and Peel (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Halton Hills).
Environment Canada says temperatures will near the 30-degree mark in many areas today.
While temperatures will continue to be above normal on Thursday (May 28), they will be a little lower than today due to more cloud cover and perhaps an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties will prevail again this afternoon, Environment Canada says.
A cold front will deliver considerably cooler and less humid air to Southern Ontario on Friday.
While extreme heat affects everyone, the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, seek out cooler areas and refrain from leaving children and pets in hot vehicles.
