Hamilton, Grimsby men arrested in connection with Oakville break and enter

A Halton Regional Police investigation has led to the arrest of Hamilton man and Grimsby man in connection to a break and enter in Oakville that happened in early February.

The 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau says incident occurred back on Feb. 10 at around 5 a.m. when a man was at Elements Casino in Dundas and had his wallet and keys to his residence stolen from his jacket.

Two males were believed to be involved in the theft and a short while after police allege one of the suspects went to the victim’s residence, located at Glenhampton Rd. and Postmaster Dr., and used the stolen house key to break in.

Approximately $8000 worth of personal items and bank cards were stolen from the residence. Police say that one of the suspects used the stolen bank cards to make fraudulent purchases in Oakville and the Niagara Region.

Police later identified the two male suspects and executed two search warrants at a residence in Hamilton and another in Grimsby on May 16.

As a result, a 50-year-old man from Hamilton and a 38-year-old man from Grimsby were arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Break and Enter and Commit
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (MDMA)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Break and Enter and Commit
  • Unauthorized Use of Credit Card (2 counts)
