Miss a street sign and reap the hazards.
A truck driver did exactly that on Wednesday (Oct. 9) and the result was a Halton Region side road being closed for three hours.
Halton Regional Police say the driver of the 5,400 kg truck missed a sign on the road notifying truck drivers that trucks and buses were prohibited on the road.
“This guy took a 5,4000 kg truck onto one of the steepest, tightest roads in the region,” said Halton police. “He then got stuck on the shoulder, closing the road for three hours while he was pulled out.”
The officer provided a video of the incident showing the effort to get the stuck truck out, which included the aid of a large tow truck.
“When you sign a sign telling you it’s a no truck route, there’s a reason for it,” he said.

The video showed the winding road with tight turns and a steep incline.
The driver’s reason for not following the sign?
“I was following my (navigation),” they said.
Halton police did not provide any word on whether charges were laid.
