Halton police make arrest in year-old Oakville Scotiabank robbery

A Stoney Creek man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery that happened last year in Oakville.

According to Halton police, on Jan. 17, 2023, two would-be robbers barged into the Scotiabank located at 611 Third Line in Oakville. They hopped onto the counters and demanded cash from employees.

No weapons were used in the course of the robbery and no injuries were reported to police.

Late last week, Thomas Penasse-Stanley, 21, of Stoney Creek was arrested by HRPS investigators and charged with robbery.

Penasse-Stanley was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are still investigating and have not laid charges against the second suspect.
