Halton Hills wants road prone to speeding to become Community Safety Zone

Halton Hill is going to ask the provincial government to make a portion of Hwy. 7 a Community Safety Zone.
Introduced by Ward 2 councillor Jason Brass, the motion recognizes that Norval continues to grow and see more traffic while, at the same time, still has plenty of pedestrians and cyclists.
Specifically, the Town will ask that Hwy. 7 through Norval be made into a Community Safety Zone. It approved, there will be special signage and speeding fines will be doubled.
“Residential properties, businesses, churches, parks, daycares, children’s ecology centre and the Lucy Maud Montgomery Garden are directly fronting and accessing this section of Hwy. 7 in Norval,” wrote Brass in the proposal.
He said families, businesses and visitors to Norval need protection from increased traffic and speeding.
If approved next week, the request will start working its way up the bureaucratic ladder.
