Halton Hills opening outdoor tennis, pickleball, basketball courts early this year

With the first blast of warm spring weather here, Halton Hills has decided to open its outdoor tennis and pickleball courts a little earlier than expected.

The outdoor season doesn’t officially open until April 15, but the Town announced that local facilities are open now.

The locations for tennis and pickleball are:

Emmerson Park, 52 Carruthers Road, Georgetown

  • one shared tennis court, two permanent pickleball courts and four shared pickleball courts

Gellert Community Park, 10241 Eighth Line, Georgetown

  • six permanent tennis courts

Joseph Gibbons Park, 77 Weber Drive, Georgetown

  • two shared tennis courts and four shared pickleball courts

Prospect Park, 30 Park Avenue, Acton

  • one permanent tennis court, two shared tennis courts, five shared pickleball courts and two permanent pickleball courts.

All courts are open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. but some organizations and community clubs have exclusive times reserved.

These are the sport court rules and regulations:

  • Wear appropriate footwear for play
  • Keep food and glass containers outside the court area
  • Limit play to 30 minutes if others are waiting
  • Do not hold courts by placing racquets or other objects on the courts
  • No ball hockey, roller hockey, lacrosse, skateboards, inline skating or bicycles
  • Please clean up after yourself
  • No dogs allowed on the courts

There are also outdoor basketball courts at the following locations:

Acton

  • 3 Musketears Skatepark – 1 full court
  • Prospect Park – 1 full court (multi-purpose with, pickleball)

Georgetown

  • Ainley Trail Parkette – half court
  • Barber Drive Park – half court
  • Barber Mill Park – half court
  • Danby Road Park – half court
  • Hidden Lake Trail Parkette – half court
  • Maple Creek Park – half court
  • Meadowglen Blvd Park – half court

Town staff regularly inspects the courts, but if you notice damage or vandalism, you’re asked to call 905-873-2600, ext. 2603.
