Halton Hills is moving to provide historic designation to a Georgetown church.

St. John’s Anglican Church, located at 10996 Trafalgar Rd. and 15 Side Rd. in Stewarttown, will be designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.

According to a report by Town staff, the property has been identified as having cultural heritage value as an early representative of a rural church building with Gothic Revival influences.

It’s closely associated with early Protestant church communities in Halton Hills including the Methodist and Anglican churches, associations with the Stewarttown community, and contextual value as a landmark at the southern terminus of Stewarttown.

Further information respecting the statement of cultural heritage value or interest and proposed designation is available by contacting Laura Loney, manager of Heritage Planning, at 905-873-2600, ext. 2358, or by email at [email protected].

Any person may, within 30 days after the date of the publication of this notice, serve written notice of objection to the proposed designation with Loney, together with a statement for the objection and all relevant facts.
