Provincial officials recently announced that Ontario school boards including the Halton District School Board (HDSB), will be required to provide the option for students to learn remotely during the 2021-2022 school year.

As a result, the HDSB recently revealed its plans to offer virtual learning next year.

“While we encourage all students to plan to attend school in-person in the fall, we are writing to provide information for students who would like to register for the Remote Learning Model for September 2021,” stated the HDSB.

The HDSB confirmed that no further action is required if a child will be attending school in person. However, those who require remote learning for the upcoming school year will be required to complete a registration form.

On May 20, 2021, the registration form will be emailed to all families within the school board. The deadline for submitting the form will be June 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Secondary school students registered for remote learning will be required to reselect courses for the 2021-2022 school year in order to replace their home school timetable.

Residents are reminded that this does not apply to Gary Allan High School students, whose families will receive messages directly from the Gary Allan Learning Centres main office.
