Halton Black Voices celebrates successful exhibit at gallery

Art, soul and good vibes will be the order of the day for the closing event of a special exhibition at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

Presented by Halton Black Voices, tomorrow’s (Jan. 6) family-friendly party will feature live entertainment, presentations and snacks as the group celebrates the successful run of the Bring a Folding Chair exhibit.

Inspired by the phrase, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair”, the exhibit, which has been running continuously at the gallery since October, features the work of several artists who celebrate resilience, determination, and the ability to carve out a space in a world that may not always offer one.

Featured artists have been Kemahee Baker, Reynold Thomas, Vivianne, and Xavier Fuller who convey stories of perseverance and strength.

“Each piece is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to adapt and thrive. Bring a Folding Chair invites you to assert your presence, and to motivate change by building stronger, more equitable communities,” reads a description promoting the exhibition by the gallery.

The event is open to the public and takes place from noon to 3 p.m. at the gallery, located at 1333 Lakeshore Rd.
