It appears that Halloween in Halton is pretty much still on.

While Queen’s Park is preparing some guidelines for trick or treating, local officials are taking a cautious approach to October 31 knowing that matters can change drastically because of COVID-19.

In the meantime, the Halton Health Department has some recommendations that, when you break it down, suggest that you avoid crowds and maybe even stay home.

Here are the suggestions.

For gatherings:

–         Host parties and gatherings virtually.

–         If you do host a party do so with those in your social circle.

For trick or treating or distributing treats:

–         If you are feeling unwell don’t go out and don’t hand out treats.

–         Travel around your neighbourhood only with members of your own household.

–         Limit the number of houses you visit.

–         Maintain a physical distance of 6-feet from those outside your household.

–         Wait for others to leave a house before approaching it.

–         Leave candy outside for pickup

–         Wear a non-medical mask or face covering where physical distancing is a challenge.

–         Limit the handling of candy by using tongs or by creating individual bags.

–         Carry hand sanitizer and use often.

–         Avoid touching your face.

–         Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
