A Burlington school was placed in a “hold and secure” position this afternoon following reports that a man with a gun was spotted in the vicinity.

Halton Regional Police have since made an arrest and the school is operating under normal conditions.

The school is Nelson High School located at 4181 New St.

The call to police was made around 1:30 p.m.

Hold and secure means a school locks its doors with no one being able to enter because of a nearby emergency. Under a hold and secure classes continue normally.

There are no reports of injuries. The name of the person arrested has not yet been released and there is no information on the type of charges the person faces.
