Nothing like an eerie walk back into Olde Oakville of the 1800’s to get you in the mood for Halloween.

The Oakville Historical Society is once again hosting its Ghost Walks where residents are guided by by a character from the past who could be a mayor, merchant, ship captain or a Chisholm relative.

Each ghost leader will share stories about his or her life and tell you ghost stories. You’ll also get to meet other ghosts along the way and interact with other spirits.

Beginning Oct. 11, the Ghost Walks are held every night, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. up to the night before Halloween. All walks are one hour long and those taking part are encouraged to wear good walking shoes.

Hearing what is being said by the Ghost Walk Leader will be much easier this year with the Historical Society’s addition of two WinBridge S92 Pro Portable PA Systems.

“It is designed for outdoor activities like weddings and walking tours,” said the Oakville Historical Society. “We will stay focused on up to 15 people for each Ghost Walks tour.

“To accommodate more Ghost Walkers, some walks may show 30. This is actually two groups of 15.”

New groups looking to take part in this year’s Ghost Walks will have to wait until 2024. The demand from groups looking to participate has been much higher than expected.

Also new this year is the ticketing system. After the purchase, participants can manage their tickets online. This includes availability and timing, changes to the date/time of a Ghost Walk plus cancellation or refund.

This ends 48 hours before the scheduled walk. Online ticket sales end two hours before the start time of a tour.

The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Refreshments will be served following each tour.

All walks will begin and end at the Oakville Historical Society, located at 110 King St.
