This swim in Oakville is for the dogs.

Really, just for the dogs.

The summer heat can be tough on our canine friends as well and the Oakville and Milton Humane Society is looking to help them cool off with its second annual Doggie Dip.

The fundraiser for the local humane society is being held Sunday, September 4 at Lions Pool in Oakville, from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Space is limited. Time slots are 30 minutes and local residents can get an early bird rate of $25 before August 22.

Two people can accompany each dog and masks are optional. Only the dogs can be in the pool.

Attendees are not permitted to bring their own toys for the dogs. A large supply of tennis ball will be provided.

Dogs will be allowed off their leash in the fenced off pool area once the announcer gives the go-ahead. Owners will have to put their dog back on a leash at the end of the swim time.

Any dogs who show unfriendly behaviour towards other dogs will be removed from the pool/event area.

The water will be safe for the dogs as the Town of Oakville plans to reduce chlorine levels in the pool.
