Milton Transit’s Read and Ride program, which offers free access to local youth aged 16 and under, is in full swing.

The program, in partnership with the Milton Public Library, runs until Sept. 2 and provides youth, aged 16 and under, free access on Milton Transit buses simply by showing their validated library card to the bus driver upon boarding.

“The Read and Ride program is the perfect way for local youth to explore Milton this summer while connecting them to the many programs and resources offered by the Milton Public Library,” said Kanta Kapoor, Milton Library’s interim chief librarian

Transit validation stickers are free and are available at all Milton Public Library branches. Those interested in participating in the program are required to place the validation sticker on their Milton Public Library card.

“Year after year, the Read and Ride program continues to be well received by the community and we’re excited to offer it once again,” said Tony D’Alessandro, director, Milton Transit.

“The aim of the program is to encourage youth within the community to explore the Town while continuing to foster the love of learning and reading over the summer months.”
