Former Toronto Maple Leafs head coach and current New Jersey Devils bench boss Sheldon Keefe will be sharing some of his expertise on the game at an upcoming training camp in Oakville for young hockey players.

Keefe will be a featured speaker at the Elite Team Culture and Mental Performance Training Camp being held Thursday August 22, 2024, from 4 to 6:15 p.m., at the Oakville Convention Centre.

Hosted by Time and Space Athlete: Mental Performance, Keefe will appear as a virtual speaker in a hybrid format.

Keefe, who spent five seasons behind the Toronto bench before relieved of his coaching duties on May 9 and was then hired by the Devils almost two weeks later, will discuss team culture and mental performance during his virtual session.

“A great opportunity here for anyone looking to learn about and grow in the mental performance space put together by my friend, Riley Watson on August 22,” said Keefe in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter.

Other virtual presenters include Oakville native and Canadian national women’s hockey star Brianne Jenner and coach and award-winning author and podcast host Lee MJ Ellis.

Delivering in-person presentations will be coach, author and speaker Dr. Cassidy Preston, cognitive behavioural sports specialist Larissa Mills and Watson, an educator, author, and mental performance coach.

The program will include videos, interactive discussions, and workbook activities.

“You can skip my portion of the program, but you’ll want to take advantage of the rest,” added Keefe in another X tweet.

Keefe, who signed a four-year contract with the Devils, led the Leafs to the playoffs in all five of his seasons behind the bench and had a record of 212-97-54 during the regular season and a playoff record of 16-21.

After Toronto fell to the Boston Bruins in the opening round of this year’s NHL playoffs, the 43-year-old was fired.
