A woman who taught at Pineland Public School in Burlington is facing more sexual assault charges dating back nearly 40 years.

Further investigation in the case revealed an additional three male victims who said they were assaulted have between 1983 and 1987 at the school as well as at the residence of the accused.

On May 9, 2023, investigators arrested the accused again.

Barbara Baxter, 86, of Burlington has been charged with three additional counts of sexual assault and one count of an act of gross indecency, a charge that was in effect at the time of the offense.

She was released on an Undertaking.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information, or anyone who has been victimized by her to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

The original charges go back to June 2022 when a victim reported to police that while attending Pineland Public School in Burlington in 1982-1983, he was sexually assaulted by the suspect, who was his teacher at the school. The victim was in grade 8 at the time.

In February 2023, a second victim (male) reported to police that while he was a grade 8 student at Pineland Public school in 1983-1984, he was also sexually assaulted by the same teacher.

The sexual assaults occurred at the school.

Prior to being employed by the Halton District School Board, Baxter was an employee of the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.
