Youth football in Burlington, Milton, Oakville and Halton Hills continues to grow, but with that expansion comes the need for more officials.
The Lakeshore Football Officials Association is looking for referees for the upcoming summer and fall gridiron season.
A spokesperson for the organization said the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on them and many of their members have stepped away from officiating.
In addition, the formation of the new Ontario Community Football League means even more on-field referees will be needed this year.
The LFOA is hoping to attract anyone who has a passion for football to come and be mentored by some of the best football officials in the country.
Officials are needed on weekends throughout the summer and afternoons in the fall, Tuesday to Friday, for high school games.
All new officials must compete a one-day Level 1 Football Canada officials’ certification program. The first local program will be held in April.
