A sweeper truck was brought out to clean oil spill.

A truck driver faces charges following an oil spill in Burlington earlier this week.

The accident on Upper Middle Road near Walkers Line stopped traffic for several hours on July 22 while crews cleaned up the diesel fuel that spilled when a tanker truck struck a median while trying to back into a lot.

According to reports at the time, 100 litres of fuel spilled onto the road and into the sewer system.

Firefighters were on the scene to ensure safety and police redirected traffic away from the area.

A sweeper truck was also brought in to clean up the area.

The Ontario Ministry of Environment was at the scene to inspect the damage. There were no injuries and it was determined there was no significant environmental damage.

The operator of the vehicle, who has not been named, has been subsequently charged with careless driving.
