Halton residents should be aware of the coming weather affecting the area.

Conservation Halton warns of a Texas Low Pressure System bringing in between 30 to 40mm of rain beginning Sunday morning, continuing until Monday morning. More showers are also expected throughout the week.

The rain will result in an increase of water levels in rivers and streams over the next several days. Most bodies of water will have hazardous conditions, such as cold water and slippery and unstable banks.

Though widespread flooding is not predicted, fast flowing water and flooding of lower areas and natural floodplains may be expected. Residents of flood-prone areas should be on alert.

All residents and children should keep a safe distance from any watercourses and structures including dams and bridges. The fast flowing and elevated water levels make these locations very dangerous.

Conservation Halton continues to monitor the weather conditions.

The flood warning will remain in effect until Tuesday (April 16).
