Flames doused, roads reopen, film surfaces of Burlington townhouse fire

Appleby Line has reopened in both directions following an early morning fire in Burlington that led to the road closures.

Halton police say there may be intermittent lane restrictions to allow crews to handle the cleanup and traffic signals may not be functioning in all areas. Treat intersections without lights should be treated as all-way stops. Public transit is still being diverted around the area.

Almost 3,000 customers are still without power and Burlington Hydro reports that damage to power lines is extensive.

The blaze broke out around 4:30 a.m. at a townhouse development under construction in the area of Appleby Line and Dundas St.

The Burlington Fire Department was able to secure the scene several hours later.

The townhomes were unoccupied according to police and no injuries have been reported,

It is too early for investigators to have determined the cause of the fire or how many structures were affected.
