Flags at Milton Town Hall have been lowered in honour of residential school victims in British Columbia (BC).

To acknowledge the tragic loss of children and those who still remain unaccounted for at the site of the former St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School located in Williams Lake, B.C., flags at Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast.

The Town announced this on Twitter today (Jan. 26) with the hashtag #EveryChildMatters.

Over the last year, several other Ontario cities, including Mississauga, Brampton and Burlington, have lowered their flags after the horrifying discovery of children found buried at the sites of former residential schools.

Halton Region has also taken steps to advance Reconciliation and Indigenous Relationship building with First Nations, Métis and Inuit People and Communities around Halton in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and Calls to Action.
