Canada has a new country music star and he is from Burlington.

Josh Ross has burst upon the music scene with chart-topping success and his star status was confirmed by the capture of five trophies at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards held this past weekend in Edmonton.

Ross won in five categories where he was nominated which were Entertainer of the Year, Male Artists of the Year, Single of the Year (Trouble), Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year, and Top Selling Canadian Single of the Year.

“This has made all the hard work pay off,” said Ross after accepting the Entertainer of the Year award. “I thank each and every one of you.”

Born in Waterdown and raised in Burlington, Ross attended Nelson High School before heading to Western University in London. An injury put an end to an aspiring football career but it also launched him into the music business when he took his many skills to Nashville to begin recording.

Now 28, his star continues to rise as he continues to collect awards as his songs reach far beyond Canadian borders with more than 70 million streams on the Spotify music service.

Currently on a cross-country tour in the U.S., Ross is set for Canadian dates in 2025 with shows planned for the Colosseum At Caesars in Windsor (Jan. 17) and Casino Rama in Orillia (Jan. 18)
