Firefighters needed to douse blaze in patient’s room at Oakville hospital

Oakville firefighters were needed to put out a blaze at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital today (Jan. 23).

Halton Healthcare confirmed, via their X (formerly Twitter) social media account, that the fire department had to be called in when a fire occurred in a fourth-floor room.

The hospital, including the emergency department, remains open and operational.

An official from the fire department said the fire was minor, but the occupant of the room where it occurred was treated in the emergency department.

Investigators are on scene to try to determine the cause of the fire, which was contained to a single room.
