A fire broke out at a vacant home in Oakville early this morning.
The Oakville Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls of a house fire at 2048 Bridge Rd. around 2:50 a.m. this morning (May 9), the Oakville Fire Department tells inHalton.
The home is in the Highway 403 and Third Line area of Oakville.
The single-family detached home was vacant and this meant the fire was able to rip through the structure.
When crews arrived they “encountered heavy smoke and flames throughout the house and aggressively attacked the fire from an exterior position as the house was vacant with some renovations underway,” the Oakville Fire Department said in an email.
There were no injuries to the public or fire crews.
Crews brought the fire under control in a short time but continue to extinguish challenging areas, the fire department said.
Oakville Fire investigators are attending and will contact the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office given the extent of the property loss value.
Halton Regional Police, Halton Region Paramedics, Oakville Hydro and Enbridge Gas also attended.
Seven fire apparatus, one command chief, and one deputy chief were on scene.
Crews are expected to remain on scene for the next few hours to fully extinguish the fire.
There was no word on the cause of the fire.
