Faster internet coming to more areas of Burlington

Higher internet speeds will soon be available to those who live in some rural areas of Burlington.

Standard Broadband has started construction on its fibre-to-home network in the rural Ward 6 area of the City and is expected to be completed over the next several weeks.

Those who want the service will be able to increase their internet speeds from 50 Mbps (megabytes per second) to 1,000 Mbps) with the new available connection.

The new service will be available to approximately 300 customers.

“There is no cost and you are under no obligation to sign up for our service… (it) ensures that your home is connected and ready so that you may subscribe now or in the future,” says Standard Broadband in a a notice to those who live in the area.

Installation of the fibre optics will begin on Derry Rd., from Blue School Line to Walkers Line, then move to Walkers Line from Derry Rd. to Side Road 1, then to Britannia Rd. from Walkers Line to Bell School, followed by Appleby Rd. from Derry Rd.to Side Road 1, Side Road 4, Side Road 2, Side Road 1, and finally Bell School Line.
