A two-month program to fix up a handful of Milton bridges will get underway Monday, July 17.

The 2023 bridge and culvert rehabilitation program is a bi-annual program that addresses needs for the Town’s bridges and culverts to extend their service life. This program runs until Sept. 30.

Planned enhancements include:

  • Concrete repairs to bridge components on the surface and underside
  • Repairs and replacement of the existing asphalt, curb and sidewalk adjacent to the structures
  • Replacement of existing parapet wall
  • Replacement pedestrian bridges

Four structures will be undergoing some level of construction:

  • Structure 10 Canyon Rd. (approximately 100-m north of Limestone Rd.)
  • Structure 14 McNiven Rd. (approximately 20-m north of Derry Rd.)
  • Structure 108 Chisholm Dr. (approximately one-km west of Martin St.)
  • Pedestrian bridges P06 and P07 (located in David Thompson Park)

Access to McNiven Road from Derry will be closed for the duration of this closure. Local access on McNiven will be maintained from the north via Conservation Road for southbound access only.

The bridges at David Thompson Park will also be closed to facilitate the replacement. Local residents and businesses will receive notices if a closure direct impacts them.

Lane restrictions only will be in effect for the Canyon Road and Chisholm Drive.

Construction timelines are dependent on many factors, including weather.

During construction, the public is encouraged to plan travel in advance, consider alternate routes, follow signage and be patient while travelling in and around construction areas.

Town-led construction is essential municipal work to ensure Milton’s infrastructure remains safe, in state of good repair and able to meet the community’s needs now and in the future.
