Dogs prepare for last summer splash at Burlington pool party

It’s a pool party for pets and your pooch is invited.
Tomorrow, Sept. 7, the Burlington Humane Society will clear a Burlington pool of humans and turn it over to the dogs.
The Pooch Plunge at Nelson Pool will see the facility closed to the public, have chlorine levels dropped and will let the dogs in for an end-of-season swim before the pool is closed down and cleaned for the winter.
“The pool has a beach-style shallow entry to allow dogs to walk into the water gradually, though dogs are also welcome to jump in off the deeper sides! Pawrents – sorry – this event is for the pooches only – due to the lowered chlorine levels, no humans are allowed into the water,” comments organizers of the event.
The inner pool area will be fully fenced in, allowing for it to be designated as off-leash for the day. Volunteers will manage the gate entry to ensure no escapes.
In the outer area, local vendors will be on hand with pet-related products and the Human Society will be available to answer questions about their services.
Different time slots are available depending on the size of your pet.
