Keeping both paws on the wheel will still earn you a ticket in Oakville.

While the rain Monday may have made for a dog’s day on the roads, having your favourite pooch behind the wheel is never a good idea, let alone a safe one for you and fellow drivers.

Halton Regional Police traffic officer Owen was stunned yesterday morning when driving on Dundas St. and noticed a dog sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle over in the next lane.

It appears the dog was sitting in the lap of the driver.

“Had to do a double take yesterday morning to confirm who was driving here in the rain on Dundas St.,” Owen said on Twitter.

No word if the dog lost any demerit points, but the driver, human driver that is, was charged for driving while crowded.

“Don’t place a pet in a position where it can interfere with the car’s safe operation,” said officer Owen.
