Halton Police have a new lead in their investigation into a deliberately set fire at a Burlington townhouse complex.

Emergency crews were called out to the six-unit complex on Taywood Avenue near Appleby Line around 6 a.m. on Oct. 11.

There they were met by smoke and flames coming from the units. Burlington Fire was able to quickly contain the fire from spreading.

The buildings are undergoing construction and were unoccupied.

Police say the fire was intentionally set and damaged two unoccupied units worth $2 million.

More than a year ago, in August of 2023, the same townhouse complex was also involved in a suspicious fire.

Police now are looking to identify those who were spotted in a vehicle at the scene before the fire broke out.

The vehicle is a red Dodge Charger.

Anyone with information about the fire or the vehicle is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
