Playground at Central Park in Burlington.

The playground at a downtown Burlington park is closed for repairs.

According to the City of Burlington, the Central Park playground will be closed until further notice to repair damage to the rubber surface.

Central Park is located on New St.

It is not known what caused the damage.

Recently, a multi-user swing was installed in the park, one of the first of its kind in Ontario that accommodates children in wheelchairs.

As well, the resurfacing of the playground and new equipment was just added in 2022.

The playground will remain closed until the full rubber surface is replaced, cured and safety tested.

Other parks nearby that have playgrounds are:

  • Spencer Smith Park, 1400 Lakeshore Rd.
  • Lion’s Park, 471 Pearl St.
  • Central Park near Rotary Youth Centre, 560 Guelph Line
