Food4Kids Halton is cooking up a Battle of the Chefs and the real winner will be hungry kids in the community.
The local non-profit charity is hosting its 5th Annual Food4Kids Battle of the Chefs on Monday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Oakville Conference Centre.
The fun-filled event features a culinary showdown between local chefs where they whip up tasty, extraordinary dishes to help raise money for the Food4Kids Halton’s mission.
“Proceeds of Battle of the Chefs will provide healthy food for our kids who are most in need so that they may excel and reach their full potential,” said Food4Kids.
Over the last four years, the sold-out cooking events have raised over $159,000.
Guests will get the opportunity to try a wide variety of samples from participating restaurants. There will also be a silent auction featuring cooking experiences and exclusive items.
The non-profit charity is still looking for sponsors for the event, as well as local restaurants to participate in the culinary battle. Local bakeries are also welcome to come out and showcase their tasty treats.
Donated items for the silent auction are also welcome.
Since the pandemic hit, the number of children Foods4Kids Halton fees has increased by 26 per cent. More than 100 schools are now in the local charity’s Weekends Without Hunger program.
“There are over 1,000 kids in Halton with limited or no access to food each weekend,” said the local charity.
