Canadian Pacific’s popular Holiday Train will be making stops in Milton and Hamilton next month.

A pair of festively-themed trains, one Canadian and one American, have become popular features as they criss-cross their way across North America, bouncing between stops in Canada and the northern US.

While making stops in dozens of communities, there is a short concert as well as raising money, food and awareness for local food banks in communities along the CP network.

The US train is scheduled to arrive in Milton at the Glen Eden Ski & Snowboard Centre West Parking Lot at 5234 Kelso Road on Wednesday, Nov. 22. The music acts will be Seaforth and Keisza. They will arrive at 4:45 p.m. and leave by 5:30 p.m.

The same show will be in Hamilton, at 42 Lawrence Rd., across from Gage Park, with arrival planned for 7:45 p.m. and the show from 8 to 8:30 p.m.

The shows are free to attend but CP asks attendees to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation if they’re able. Local food shelves will set up collection stations at each event, with all donations made staying with the local food bank to help people in need in the community.

With local food shelters able to buy food at a discount, cash donations can go further than food donations to help those in need.

Since the Holiday Train program launched in 1999, more than $22.5 million has been raised and more than five million pounds of food collected for community food banks across North America.

You’ll be able to track the progress of the train here, once it becomes active.
