COVID-19 viral numbers still stable in Halton Region

COVID-19 numbers are stable in Halton Region this week, with the new case numbers down slightly but the per cent positivity rate up a notch.

The seven day moving average for COVID patients is 13.7, versus 14.1 a week ago, while the per cent positivity rate rose to 17.6 per cent from 13.1 per cent.

There are ten outbreaks in hospitals, long-term care homes and retirement centres – up two from the previous reporting period – with six patients admitted to local hospitals with the virus.

Wastewater tests continue to show less than ten per cent signal strength from both testing sites in Halton Region.

The data arrives as residents six and up are now eligible to book their next vaccine booster – as well as a flu shot – at local pharmacies and at regional immunization clinics.

Residents can make appointments for Burlington (1200 Brant St. Unit A2) from November 6-10; Oakville (South Oakville Centre) from November 13-17; and Milton (550 Ontario Street) from November 20-24.

“Getting your COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot is the best way to keep yourself, your loved ones and your community healthy,” said Health Minister Sylvia Jones.

Just over 1.6 million vaccinations to date have been given to Halton residents.
