Community organization aims to relaunch Neighbourhood Watch program in Oakville

The next steps towards Oakville’s new Neighborhood Watch program have just been unveiled.

According to a release from the Oakville Community Association (OCA), a revamped Neighborhood Watch program is likely heading to Oakville communities.

After a public meeting on behalf of the OCA on Sept. 21, attendees discussed the increasing need to monitor neighbourhoods due to growing concerns around criminal activities.

As a result of this initial pitch discussion, a new meeting will be held on Nov. 2, 2024, to discuss collective action done on behalf of OCA members and what the next steps toward what the program will likely look like.

The Neighbourhood Watch Reactiviation Committee (NWRC) has now been formed in tandem with the OCA and concerned Oakville community members to zero in on the suspected needs of the residents of Oakville.

“It seems simple that in order to make a difference, residents need to pay attention and get to know your neighbours to help deter crime,” said OCA president Michael Reid in an official statement.
