CLOSURE: Popular grocery store in Oakville closes

A once-popular Asian Oakville supermarket has closed its doors.

Famijoy Supermarket, located at 125 Cross Avenue (Unit C2), has closed down permanently.

The Asian market flourished when it first opened its doors after moving into the former No Frills location across from the large Home Depot store.

“I remember how busy it was when it first opened as the Asian grocery stores can be lone drives from Oakville,” said one poster on Reddit. “Watching the stores decline in quality was really sad.”

The grocery store offered Asian food products including frozen and produce, as well as seafood, meat, dairy and halal items.

Customers are sad they will no longer be able to shop at the Oakville Famijoy Supermarket location.

“The writing was on the wall,” said another poster, who said shelves grew more and more bare.
