Only 14 months after bringing a unique Korean food to Milton, Arirang has closed its doors for good.

A sign on the counter of the shop, which shares the retail space with another business, said, “We are now permanently closed due to some internal conflict.”

In addition, their Google page also lists the restaurant as permanently closed.

Located at 252 Main St. E, at Charles Street, Arirang cohabited the location with Gong Cha, a bubble tea shop which remains open. It opened in August, 2023.

Arigang is a chain of specialty corndogs, a common street food in Korea that is gaining popularity in North America.

The chain has 500 locations around the world, mostly in Southeast Asia and Australia. It was founded in 2014 and has locations in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary.

Basically a corndog on a stick, the dressings and fillings set it apart from the fair fare most associate with the food, including various types of cheese, poutine, beef, sausage, Oreo cookie, Cheetos and chicken nuggets. And that doesn’t even take into account the variety of unusual sauces available.
