The Oakville Chamber Orchestra is gearing up for the new season with a pair of upcoming concerts.

Your Baroque Favourites is on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the AEG Liebherr Auditorium at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

“There’s something about Baroque music that’s so compelling. It’s some of the most popular Classical music. Perhaps it’s the rhythm, the steady pulse that we all love,” said a spokesperson.

“Beyond that, with Bach in particular, but also Handel and Telemann, it’s the counterpoint that is so many things happening at once, all perfectly organized into a harmonious whole.”

The concert features Georg Telemann’s Suite La Changeante, George Frideric Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6 #10 in Dm, and Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite #2 in Bm. The soloist is Susan Somerville, flute

Next up is Everybody Loves Mozart on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the AEG Liebherr Auditorium at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.

“Mozart is all elegance and perfection – the beautiful melodies, the uplifting rhythms, the virtuoso playing – we’ve got lots of that, with Toronto husband-and-wife team Michael Berkovsky and Coral Solomon. How often do you hear a concerto for two pianos? This is a truly sparkling example.

“Also featured is Bach’s Paris Symphony, which is influenced by French trends of the time, which include a large orchestra playing grand entrances. Mozart’s Symphony #39 is one of his three last great symphonies, a splendid, lyrical, moving testament to his talent.”

The concert features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony #31 in D “Paris”, Piano Concerto #10 in E flat (for two pianos), and Symphony #39 in E flat. The soloists are Michael & Coral Berkovsky, pianos.

Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is located at 130 Navy St.

For either show, tickets cost $45 for regular seating, $15 for children under 12, $20 for students and $60 for premium seating in Centre Rows D-H. Group discounts are also available.
