Choir! Choir! Choir!, the wildly acclaimed musical experience, is coming to Burlington for two festive shows.

“The shows are called Un-Silent Night and are Choir! Choir! Choir!’s warmest and fuzziest night ever,” say Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) presenters. “Imagine yourself surrounded by hundreds of other voices, making your way through an unforgettable mix of holiday classics and seasonal pop gems. What could feel better as winter approaches? Absolutely nothing. And it doesn’t really matter if or what you celebrate: Dust off that ugly sweater, grab your friends and family, and get ready to feel the glow of togetherness at a fully interactive holiday sing-along show like no other”

The shows at BPAC are on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 and 8 p.m.

Started in 2011 by musicians Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman at Clinton’s Tavern in Toronto, the concept invites all those who show up into a traditional choir setting that works toward a live performance of a chosen song.

As described by those who repeatedly return to take part in Choir! Choir! Choir!, the event allows participants to “let loose” and sing their hearts out but within the confines of the structured leadership of the founders.

“Choir! Choir! Choir! is the fully interactive, participatory show that turns audience into performer,” according to the BPAC description of the experience. “So get ready to laugh, dance and sing your hearts out with hundreds of other music-lovers just like you. It’s like a big birthday party for the greatest songs of all time and you’re invited.”

While mostly appearing locally, Golman and Adilman have also taken the show on the road appearing with audiences at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Massey Hall, The Juno Awards, Parliament Hill, National Arts Centre, Luminato Festival and the Polaris Music Prize Gala. As well, guest singers such as David Byrne, Patti Smith, Rufus Wainwright, Rick Astley, Tegan and Sara, Bruce Cockburn, Kathleen Edwards, Colin Hay (Men At Work), Joel Plaskett, Sarah Harmer, and Chris Murphy (Sloan) have taken part.
