After months of speculation, Chick-fil-A is ready to open in Burlington.

The American-based fast-food chain confirmed that it intends to open on Thursday, Oct. 3.

It will open in the Appleby Crossing plaza in the Appleby Line and Dundas Street area.

The Burlington restaurant will be Chick-fil-A’s 17th Canadian location.

Famous for its chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A has proven popular with diners in Canada based on its reputation in the U.S. When it first opened in Toronto employees were faced with daily customer line-ups.

The new restaurant will employ up to 100 workers and will be open for dine-in, pick-up and drive-thru from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Burlington store is owned and operated by Wesley Lyon who helped open the first Canadain Chick-fil-A in downtown Toronto.

In honour of the new opening, Chick-fil-A will donate about $34,000 to a local non-profit organization, through Second Harvest, one of Canada’s largest food rescue organizations.

The location will also be participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and non-profits in need.

Aside from sandwiches, Chick-fil-A also services chicken nuggets and strips, salads and milkshakes.

Chick-fil-A operates more than 3,000 restaurants around the world under the franchise model which are owned and operated by a single individual.
