A Milton man is facing charges following a massive collision last month that left one man dead.

On Sept. 20, a 55-year-old Milton man died following the late-afternoon collision at Derry Road and Ontario St. S.

A Halton police report at the time said a GMC Sierra was westbound on Derry Road when it collided with several vehicles in the area of the intersection. The GMC continued forward and crossed the centre median, west of the intersection where it overturned and struck several eastbound vehicles, coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of Derry Road. A total of eight vehicles were involved.

One of the eastbound vehicles that was struck by the GMC was a Toyota Corolla operated by the man who died.

Investigators from the police’s collision reconstruction unit have charged Andrew Couto, with dangerous operation of a conveyance – causing death.

He is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton at a later date.

Any witnesses or individuals with dashboard camera footage who have not yet spoken with police are asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747, ext. 5065.
