Car deliberately set ablaze by Burlington prowler

A person prowling through a Burlington neighbourhood deliberately set a car on fire.

According to Halton police, the incident happened in the darkness, just before 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 16 in the area of Reimer Common and Queensway Dr.

Police believe a man went up to a parked Honda Civic and was able to shove flammable items inside through a small opening in the sunroof.

The culprit was then able to set the material on fire using an unknown accelerant.

The fire caused damage to the interior of the vehicle before burning itself out.

There were no injuries and the person responsible was able to make his escape. There is no description of the suspect.
