Canada’s favourite pop-punk star Avril Lavigne is undergoing a career revival and Oakville’s waterfront is playing a small part in that.
One of her latest songs is Can You Die From a Broken Heart, a duet with American country singer Nate Smith.
The outdoor scene, set on a rocky shoreline, were filmed at Oakville’s Coronation Park.
Oakville has worked hard to encourage the use of town locations in music, movie and TV shoots.
“We’re thrilled Oakville has become a premier destination for filming movies and TV shows,” said Rebecca Edgar, Executive Director, Visit Oakville.
“With stunning waterfront locations, a charming downtown area and picturesque green spaces, it’s no wonder Oakville continues to captivate filmmakers. In just the last three years, Oakville has proudly served as the backdrop for more than 100 movies and TV shows.”
Lavigne shot to international stardom after signing a two-record deal with Arista Records and her debut album, Let Go, released in 2002, remains the best-selling album this century by any Canadian artist.
Her two biggest hits off that album were Complicated and Sk8er Boi, which emphasized a skate punk person.
Her teamup with Smith is their second, the first being Bulletproof.
