Bus riders can now pay by debit devices on Burlington Transit

You can now use your debit card and other devices to pay for rides on Burlington Transit.
Riders can just tap their card or other devices that are equipped with debit abilities such as a phone or watch, on a PRESTO machine when getting on a bus.
When you use debit, the fare you pay is the same as our cash fare.
Most major credit cards, such as VISA, MasterCard and American Express, as well as regular bank debit cards, are accepted. When you tap with your phone or watch select the payment card you’d like to use in your mobile wallet.
The program is part of a wider transit initiative to provide seamless service across the GTA and Hamilton. The same tap system is in place in neighbouring Oakville and Hamilton as well as Mississauga and Brampton and throughout York and Durham Regions. However, the Toronto Transit system is not yet on board. But the Ontario government is working on that.
Ontario began introducing more payment options in 2021 when it launched PRESTO payment by credit and debit card as a pilot on UP Express before expanding credit card payments to the entire GO Transit network.
