Burlington school ‘secured’ over fears of unknown intruder

A Burlington school was put into “hold and secure” mode this morning (Sept. 12) when an unknown intruder entered the school property.
The principal at Aldershot School at 50 Fairwood Pl. W. made the decision soon after classes began when the unknown person was spotted. It is not known if the person entered the building.
To put a school under the hold and secure protocol means that all doors are locked and no one is allowed to enter but classes continue as usual. It is a less severe measure than a lockdown.
Halton Regional Police were called to the scene but it has not yet been revealed if anyone was arrested or detained.
The hold and secure was lifted at 9:40 a.m.
Parents of students at the schools were notified by email about the incident.
Aldershot School has about 500 students from Grades 7 to 12.
