Burlington imposes ban on all open-air fires

The Burlington Fire Department has issued a city-wide fire ban.
The move follows the special air quality advisory that is in effect due to the wildfires in Quebec and Ontario and not wanting to add to the situation. As well, the fire department says the dry weather contributed to the decision.
Issued today (June 7), the ban includes all properties including those with approved burn permits as well as campfires and backyard burnings.
Those who break the ban could be hit with a fine.
The ban will be in effect until further notice.
During the air quality warning health officials offer the following tips:
- Limit your activity outside
- Consider wearing an N95 mask if you’re outdoors
- Take plenty of breaks inside where you can keep doors and windows closed if the temperature in your home is comfortable
- Check on loved ones
- Contact your healthcare provider if you are feeling unwell, experiencing excessive coughing/throat irritation, and/or difficulty breathing.
