Burlington Door to Door Canvasser Charged

A Hamilton man is facing fraud-related charges after going door to door in Burlington.

The man was arrested after Halton police received a complaint of a suspicious person canvassing door to door for money.

Police allege he was falsely representing himself as a member of a local place of worship in the Headon Forest area, investigators allege.

The suspect was arrested after an extensive search and help from residents.

Police say the suspect was charged with fraud under $5,000; false pretenses under $5,000; trespassing at night.

Investigators allege the suspect fraudulently obtained money from numerous citizens in the Headon Forest area and throughout Burlington.

Residents in the Headon Forest area are also being requested to check their property for any related damage or discarded canvassing materials.
