Best of the best being recognized at Halton school board’s student excellence celebration

The Halton District School Board is paying special tribute to student excellence in their classrooms.

The local school board will be recognizing the success of 107 students at its 40 annual Celebration of Student Excellence at Elsie MacGill in Milton on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m.

Every year, one student from each HDSB elementary and secondary school is honoured for their excellence in several areas. Those include self-improvement, enhancing the school and/or local community, citizenship, student leadership, grades, vocational studies and specialized programs or extracurricular activities.

“Our 2024 Students of Excellence are a brilliant example of the profound learning and student leadership that is occurring across all HDSB schools,” says Amy Collard, HDSB Chair. “Their contributions have not only enriched our schools but have left an indelible mark on our communities. Together, the HDSB community commends them for their extraordinary efforts and accomplishments.”

Friends and family will be able to view the event through a livestream which will be available on the HDSB website (hdsb.ca) on May 16 at 7 p.m. A recording of the event will remain online afterward.

“As we celebrate the remarkable achievements of 107 students on the heels of Education Week, we are reminded of how a strong education positively shapes students’ futures,” says Curtis Ennis, Director of Education for the HDSB. “Each of our Students of Excellence has exemplified inspiring leadership, citizenship, and academic excellence that will undoubtedly set them on a path of continued success for years to come.”
