Attempted murder charge for random attack at Oakville GO station

Halton Police say an attempted murder charge has been filed against a man after a woman was stabbed at the Oakville GO station.
Police say the victim and the suspect did not know each other and believe the attack was random.
Matthew Valley, a 23-year-old male of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and breach of probation.
Valley was held in custody by police pending a bail hearing in Milton.
The attack took place around 1 p.m. yesterday (Oct. 6) at the station located at Cross Road near Trafalgar Road.
Police say the woman was stabbed in the back with a knife and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A person was arrested nearby a short time later.
